The Morovis Sanisalvos got a superb performance from pitcher Vicente Ruvalcaba, but the Vega Alta Martilleros still won the game, 2-1. Ruvalcaba threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. The Martilleros improved their record to 15-20 with the win over Morovis.

Mayagüez, Puerto Rico-born Julio Briones came through in the clutch. In the top of the ninth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Martilleros trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run single to right to put Vega Alta on top.

"We put together a nice win," Briones said.
