El Recóndito was the site of a remarkable pitchers' duel.

The Vieques Esqueletos, despite a fine performance by Culebra pitcher Boanerges Alvarado, grabbed a 2-0 win at El Recóndito. Alvarado allowed 2 runs over 9 innings. Anastasio Cordero was the winner. He's now 2-7. The loser was 28-year old right-handed pitcher Boanerges Alvarado.

Vieques used a timely hit from Cormac Donnelly to get the win. The center fielder delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the eighth inning to put the Esqueletos on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We're in a little funk right now and we've just got to get ourselves out of it," said Culebra manager Dylan Cummings.

With the win, Vieques goes to 15-29, while the Tortugas fall to 17-24.
