Fieles Handed 7-2 Loss by Aguada
|
The Aguada Arzobispos earned a win at Estadio Municipal de Aguada, stopping the Lares Fieles, 7-2. Starting pitcher Remigio Vallez played a big role in his team's success. Vallez, now 6-4, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 3, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs. The Arzobispos, at 18-23, sit in second place in the Liga Betances Noroeste.
Tied up with the Fieles in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Arzobispos got a boost from right fielder Mórsimo Vásquez. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Vásquez saw a 1-1 sinker from Elián Morales and hit a 2-run single to break the stalemate and put Aguada on top, 3-1.
"Remigio had good arm action, good stuff," said Aguada manager Ronald Luke.
