The rain did not keep Jayuya and San German from finishing their game.
The Jayuya Cerros got effective pitching from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Alfonso López. The 170 cm, 76 kg López muzzled the San German offense en route to a win, 6-1, at Parque de las Golondrinas. With the win, the Cerros improved to 19-23.
The Cerros took the lead, 3-0, in the top of the first inning. Facing San German hurler Ciriaco Bartra with two outs, Faustino Mejía hit a 2-run single.
"Alfonso giving us the start that he did was huge," said Jayuya manager Luis Torres.
