The game between Jayuya and San Sebastian is in the books, despite a little rain.
Quinto Montoya had a strong outing for the Jayuya Cerros against the San Sebastian Pepinos at Coliseo Álvaro Santana. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 4-2 win. Montoya, now 4-3, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 0, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs.
José Benito had a big 2-run triple for the Cerros in the bottom of the second inning. With Jayuya leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a fastball from Miguel Vásquez, who is tied for 6th in the LH in quality starts with 10, and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cerros ahead, 3-0.
"It all comes down to execution," said Jayuya manager Matías Vaca. "Baseball 101."
Jayuya sits in second place in the Liga Hostos Cordillera Oeste at 23-22.
