Valencianos Suffer 3-2 Loss to Soles
|
Luquillo pitcher Evan Brooks had a large part in his team subduing the Juncos Valencianos, 3-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. Brooks, now 6-6, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 2, walking 6, and allowing 2 runs. Virgilio Ávila finished the game for Luquillo and earned his 7th save.
The Soles got an important contribution from catcher Antonio Montes, who in the bottom of the seventh knocked a first pitch slider to right-center for a 2-run double. It was his 7th double of the season and put the Soles ahead, 3-1.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Montes said.
The Soles are now 25-22, while the Valencianos fall to 15-31.
