Quesiteros Lose as Capitanes Stage Late Rally
Though the conditions were not ideal, the Mayaguez Capitanes and Isabela Quesiteros came back from a rain delay to finish their game.

Though he had a terrific game, Sancho Salgado could not prevent his team, the Isabela Quesiteros, from absorbing a loss. Mayaguez won the game, 7-5. Salgado was 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Charlie Leighton picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 6-1. Rafael García suffered the loss. Yann Bourgeois locked down his 7th save.

Grant Johnson drew 1 walk for Mayaguez. With two out and the game tied in the bottom of the eighth inning, Johnson, who finished 2nd in the LH in home runs with 42 in 1905, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Isabela hurler Afrodisio López, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run to give the Capitanes a 5-4 lead.

"Piling up wins will eventually take us to the promised land," said Johnson.

The first-place Capitanes improved to 31-17.
