Reyes, Martínez Pin Bad Loss on Mogotes
The Juana Diaz Reyes scored a convincing win at Coliseo Adrián Burnías, defeating the Florida Mogotes, 11-2. One of the hitting stars was 24-year old right fielder Acasto Martínez who was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Fintan Whelan, the winning pitcher, improved to 7-4. He pitched 9 innings, giving up 9 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 1. The Reyes improved their record to 30-16 by beating Florida.

Martínez put Juana Diaz up, 8-1, when he hit a grand slam home run off Felipe Munguía in the bottom of the fourth. His 2nd home run of the season helped the Reyes capture the win.

Florida manager Eusebio Piñeda summed up his team's performance in one word: "Pathetic."
