Slumping Tordos Lose 17th Straight
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Bayamon Herradones and Toa Baja Tordos.
The Bayamon Herradones faced a tough opponent in Toa Baja pitcher Shigeru Kanda, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Parquecito de Bayamón by a final score of 6-4. Kanda went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. Cayetano Zavala got the win, improving to 5-5. He pitched 8 innings, giving up 8 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 9 and walking 2. Javier Luna locked down his 7th save.
Doonan Robinson went 1 for 3 with a triple and a walk for Bayamon. With two out and the game tied in the bottom of the eighth inning, Robinson, who is tied for 8th in the LMB in RBI with 59, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Toa Baja hurler José Moreno, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run to give the Herradones a 5-4 lead.
"Winning never gets old," said Robinson.
The wins continue to add up for Bayamon. The latest makes it 8 in a row.
