Cornupetas Make It 4 Straight with 3-2 Win
|
Cayey Cornupetas starter Graciano Marcano turned in a sparkling performance against the Las Piedras Menestrales, leading his team to a 3-2 win. Marcano got the win, improving to 5-6. He gave up 5 hits and walked 1 over 7.2 innings. He allowed 2 runs. The second-place Menestrales now sit at 26-23.
Rubén Velásquez had a big run-scoring double for the Cornupetas in the bottom of the third inning. With Cayey leading 2-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a slider from 29-year old right-handed pitcher Labán Marmolejo and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cornupetas ahead, 3-0.
"Graciano is pitching with a lot of determination and a lot of fire," said Cayey manager Tarquino Santa Cruz.
