José Rico, despite pitching a good game, was disappointed in the outcome: a tough, 2-1, defeat for the Isabela Quesiteros at the hands of the Villalba Mercaderes at Estadio Municipal de Isabela. Felipe Valadez, who went 7 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 10 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 1. His record now stands at 2-1. Pablo Pérez earned his 11th save, after closing out the game.
It could have been a different outcome for Villalba, had it not been for Gerardo Rodríguez, the 32-year old third baseman . Rodríguez contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Villalba up, 2-1.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Mercaderes manager John Dolan, "I like our chances."
Villalba is now 23-27, while Isabela is 25-22.
