The Vega Baja Dulzones locked up a win at Parquecito de San Juan, knocking off the San Juan Ciudadanos, 5-3. On the mound for Vega Baja was right-hander Yohann Lenire. He played a major role in the triumph. Their 53-40 record puts the Dulzones 6th in the Liga Mariana Bracetti División Arturo Schomburg.
A critical at-bat came in the top of the seventh inning when the Dulzones sent 20-year-old first baseman Emeterio Guzmán to the plate with runners on 2nd and 3rd. The youngster shook off the pressure and hit a 2-run single, to put Vega Baja on top, 5-2.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Guzmán. "You've got to get results."
