Manati registered a win at Recinto Atlético Fabián Villarreal by beating the Loiza Vejigantes, 6-5. Pitcher Sixto Turcios was one reason why the Acropolitanos triumphed. In 8.2 innings, Turcios surrendered 10 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 4. He allowed 5 runs. Gerardo Rodríguez finished to wrap up his 2nd save.

Had Dennis Pitchford not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Pitchford hit a 2-run single. That made the score 6-4, in favor of the Acropolitanos.

"You could tell Sixto had an idea about where the ball was going and what he was trying to do," said Manati manager Julio Cantú.
