Caneros Prevail, as Serie Preliminar Goes to the Wire
The Vega Baja Caneros were paced by a strong offensive output from Gabino Sánchez as they downed the Salinas Pescadores 3-2 to win the Serie Preliminar.

Vega Baja won the final game by a score of 2-1 at Coliseo Carlos Chávez to send themselves off to the Serie Eliminatoria.

"I wasn't so much focused on putting up big offensive numbers as I was about ensuring we won the games. So it's mission accomplished there," said right fielder Sánchez, who was named MVP.

For the series, the MVP hit .412 with a .500 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, drove in 2 RBI and scored 2 runs.

The Vega Baja Caneros will play against the Naguabo Navegadores in the next round. Naguabo won their series against the Cidra Palomas 3 games to 2. The Serie Eliminatoria schedule will be announced after the Serie Preliminar finishes.
