The Mayaguez Capitanes picked up a win at Estadio Plinio Cortez, knocking off the Barranquitas Ilustres, 6-2. On the mound for Mayaguez was right-hander Hortensio Galicia. He played a key role in the triumph. The triumph puts Mayaguez at 36-21 for the season.

Galicia's performance can only be described as masterful. He notched 4 strikeouts in 8 innings while allowing 1 hit. Galicia, who finished 2nd in the LH in wins with 30 in 1909, goes to 8-5 on the year with 57 strikeouts.

"Hortensio is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Mayaguez manager Alberto Contreras.
