Bizantinos Earn Win with Late Rally
|
Campo de Barinas hosted an old-fashioned pitchers' duel.
The Coro Bizantinos in 12 innings beat the Barinas Viajeros, 2-1, at Campo de Barinas. Starting pitcher Clarence Currie was a major factor, holding his opponents in check all game. Currie, now 4-8, was the winner. In 11.1 innings, he gave up 11 hits, while striking out 0, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. Alfie Fraser earned the save, his 7th in 7 tries.
Fausto Vigil had a direct impact on the outcome. Vigil contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the 12th inning to put Coro up, 2-1.
"Good ballgame," said Barinas manager Brett Normand. "But we came up on the short end."
The Bizantinos now own a record of 64-46.
