Padilla Helps Marquette Take Interleague Series Game 1
The Marquette Smelters started the Interleague Series in style, downing the visiting Duluth Zeniths at Pig Iron Stadium by a score of 6-1 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Smelters right-hander Rodrigo Padilla threw 9.0 innings of 6-hit ball.

The Zeniths had trouble solving Padilla, who surrendered 1 run on 6 hits over 9 innings.

"Rodrigo is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Marquette manager Randy Silander.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Pig Iron Stadium in Marquette.
