Martín Magallanes and the Aguada Arzobispos opened the Serie Preliminar in brilliant fashion, traveling to Rio Grande and shutting out the host Cotorras at Recinto Atlético del Noreste, 1-0, to secure an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Magallanes, the Arzobispos right-hander, threw 9.0 innings of shutout ball.

Magallanes was nothing short of fantastic for Aguada. The right-hander tossed a complete game shutout, allowing the Cotorras only 3 hits.

Aguada manager Ronald Luke called it "a darn good win."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Recinto Atlético del Noreste in Río Grande.
