The Mentor Rose Stockings started the Interleague Series in style, downing the visiting Norwalk Maples at The Rosebush by a score of 4-3 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Rose Stockings right-hander Darío Domínguez threw 9.0 innings of 7-hit ball.

Mentor took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning, when Isidro Escudero hit a clutch 2-run home run to bring Rose Stockings fans to their feet.

Escudero called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Rosebush in Mentor.
