Raucous Campo Atletico de San Benito Crowd Propels Cuervos to 12-2 Victory; Series Tied at 3
|
The Patillas Cuervos and the Maricao Cafeteros will take the Serie Interdivisional to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation, the Cuervos beat the Cafeteros, 12-2, at Campo Atletico de San Benito to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Patillas left-hander Edan O'Sullivan had a big role in the win. He came in in relief and pitched to 25 batters.
A critical at-bat came in the bottom of the eighth inning when the Cuervos sent 22-year-old second baseman Bryan Feightner to the plate with the bases loaded. The youngster shook off the pressure and hit a bases-clearing triple, to put Patillas on top, 11-2.
"We didn't help ourselves, it's as simple as that," said losing manager Cristón Ibarra.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Campo Atletico de San Benito in Patillas.
