Acropolitanos Cut Down Hechiceros, 5-2
|
Manati took on Guayama in front of a lively crowd.
The Manati Acropolitanos picked up a win at Recinto Atlético Fabián Villarreal, knocking off the Guayama Hechiceros, 5-2. Starting pitcher Gerardo Rodríguez was a big reason why. Rodríguez, now 8-5, was the winner. In 8.2 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs.
The Acropolitanos got a big hit from center fielder Amérigo Sandez. Facing Guayama pitcher Cassidy Campbell in the bottom of the sixth, Sandez pounded a 2-run home run to left. His 5th home run of the season put the Acropolitanos ahead, 3-0.
Sandez called the triumph "a good team win."
Manati is third in the Liga Hostos Norte with a record of 29-31.
