The Villalba Mercaderes beat the Barranquitas Ilustres, 6-3. Villalba pitcher and Bayamón, Puerto Rico, native Eusebio González led the way. The third-place Mercaderes lifted their record to 28-33.

Villalba relied on the hitting of Gobrías Ruiz to pick up the win. The designated hitter ripped a run-scoring triple in the top of the second inning to put the Mercaderes on top, 1-0. For the game, Ruiz had 1 triple and 1 single in 3 at-bats.

"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said González. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
