Guanica Shuts Out Toa Alta Behind Ramírez, 2-0
|
The Toa Alta Poetas manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Guanica Amigos. The Poetas were overpowered by Guanica starter Francisco Ramírez, who hurled his club to victory, 2-0.
"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Charlie McCullough said.
Over 9 innings, Ramírez blanked Toa Alta on 6 hits with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Ramírez said.
"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
This season, Ramírez has compiled a 7-6 mark with a 2.71 ERA in 17 starts.
