Vega Alta pitcher Rodrigo Pérez had a large part in his team subduing the Lares Fieles, 6-0. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the left-hander. The winner was Pérez. He threw 5.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was José Reyes. Ananías Jiménez notched his 10th save of the season.
Early in the game, left fielder Zabulón Alfaro had a run-scoring double for Vega Alta. It was his 4th double of the season and put the Martilleros on top, 1-0.
"Good win for us," said Pérez. "We'll strap it on and go after the next one."
