Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Vega Baja Caneros take on the Vega Alta Martilleros.

Vega Alta Martilleros starter Veloso Gamarra turned in a top-notch performance against the Vega Baja Caneros at Estadio Mateo Silva. The result was a win for the Martilleros, 4-1. The Caneros, at 48-46, have lost 4 straight games.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Félix Chavaña? The 28-year old first baseman Chavaña stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put Vega Alta up, 4-1. For the game, he was 3 for 5, including 2 doubles and 1 single.
