|
Barceloneta Marineros starter Jesús Garcés turned in a top-notch performance against the Quebradillas Corsarios at La Guarida. The result was a win for the Marineros, 8-2. Garcés, who finished 4th in the LH in wins with 28 last year, went the distance for Barceloneta. He gave up 2 runs on 4 hits. Barceloneta is now 45-31, Quebradillas 30-48.
Barceloneta used the timely hitting of Ricardo Noriega to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Marineros on top, 5-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Noriega told a Barceloneta Today reporter that he was "pleased as punch" with the win.
