The Yauco Corsos got a rain-soaked win over the Las Marias Citricos.
The Yauco Corsos, despite a fine performance by Las Marias pitcher Ross Taylor, grabbed a 3-2 win at El Naranjal. Taylor allowed 2 runs over 7.2 innings. Melchor Hernández earned the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. He upped his record to 2-0.
Yauco used the timely hitting of Kerry Fox to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Corsos on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Nice win for us," said Fox. "Now we'll go after the next one."
The Corsos raised their record to 6-5.
