Brillantes Send Barranquitas Home with 3-1 Loss
|
Soggy conditions did not keep Naranjito and Barranquitas from playing their scheduled game.
The Naranjito Brillantes beat the Barranquitas Ilustres, 3-1, at Parque de los Brillantes. Starting pitcher Telégono Soto was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Soto yielded 1 run over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. His record improves to 10-8.
Rafael Velázquez hit a 2-run double off Faustino Aragón in the bottom of the sixth, which put the Brillantes in front, 3-1. In addition to the double, Velázquez had 1 single, while going 2 for 3.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Barranquitas manager Belisario Mesa.
With the win, Naranjito has a record of 40-44. Barranquitas falls to 33-50.
