Martilleros Resilient in 5-4 Win Over Dorado
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Vega Alta Martilleros and Dorado Ejemplares.

The Martilleros earned a hard-fought, 5-4 win in 12 innings at Coliseo Emeterio García. To do so required withstanding a fine effort from Dorado pitcher Gerardo Marrufo. Marrufo went 5 innings and allowed no runs. Vega Alta pitcher Kavan Neligan earned the win, hiking his record to 6-5. Theo Kelly suffered the loss.

Up to bat in the bottom of the 12th, 29-year old first baseman Félix Chavaña had a chance to be the hero. Dorado pitcher Theo Kelly had other ideas. But with no outs, Chavaña hit a sacrifice fly. The Martilleros had themselves a dramatic win.

"I want us to get on a roll," said Chavaña. "It'll happen when everyone's committed to the cause."

The Martilleros now have a record of 38-57 with the win over Dorado.
