Artemisio Cortez Gets Hit Number 1000
Camuy's Artemisio Cortez entered the record books today as he collected hit number 1000 at Estadio Municipal de Arroyo.

"I am proud of this. Not too many players reach this level. You have to be around quite a few years and you have to get a lot of hits," Cortez said after the game.

On his milestone day he went 2 for 5 as the Murcielagos won 5-3 over the Arroyo Telegrafistas.

Lifetime Cortez has hit .274 with 1001 hits, 5 home runs, 496 RBIs and scored 558 runs.
