Quesiteros Take Tight Tangle

Las Piedras got a big-time effort from pitcher Telégono Soto, but it wasn't enough to keep the Isabela Quesiteros from winning the game, 4-3. Soto threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. The winning pitcher was Guillermo Rivera. He's now 18-9. He went 8 innings, allowing 3 runs on 9 hits for the Quesiteros. Afrodisio López earned the save, his 3rd.
Had Dan Toomey not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Toomey hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Quesiteros.
Isabela manager Senén Pérez was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard," he said.
Isabela now sits at 59-38, while Las Piedras falls to 52-50.
