The Utuado Arribenos got a strong performance from pitcher Plácido Polanco, who stymied the Juana Diaz offense en route to a win, 4-2, at Coliseo Adrián Burnías. The winner was Polanco. He threw 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was Antonio Jaime. The save went to Miguel García, his 11th this season.
Darío Lemus had a direct impact on the outcome. Lemus contributed a 2-run single in the top of the second inning to put Utuado up, 2-0.
"Plácido kind of went out and dug down and got some outs when he needed to," said Utuado manager Desiderio Arias.
The first-place Arribenos, at 59-37, lead the Liga Hostos Cordillera Oeste by 17 games.
