The Gurabo Tainos picked up a win at Coliseo Municipal de Gurabo, knocking off the Cayey Cornupetas, 7-3. Starting pitcher Alfonso Luján played a key role in the triumph. Gurabo is now 63-34. Cayey is 49-49.
Orlando País drove in one run for Gurabo. The 33-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Américo Prats. It was his 26th RBI of the season.
Luján told a Gurabo Herald reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
