Coquis Handle Frios, Nab 5-2 Win
|
The Caguas Coquis and Aibonito Frios completed their game despite the rain.
The Caguas Coquis topped the Aibonito Frios, 5-2, in Liga Hostos action at Estadio Herodes García. The standout performance belonged to Caguas pitcher and San Juan, Puerto Rico, native Báquides Pérez. Pérez, now 1-1, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs.
Caguas relied on the bat of Sillvestre Castanho to get the win. The left fielder ripped a run-scoring triple in the top of the first inning to put the Coquis ahead, 1-0. For the game, Castanho had 1 double and 1 triple in 5 at-bats.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Caguas manager Mateo Santiago.
The Coquis raised their record to 50-49.
