Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Rincon Ingenieros take on the Culebra Tortugas.
The Culebra Tortugas, behind a great outing from Miqueas Álvarez defeated the Rincon Ingenieros, 2-0, at Coliseo Hermógenes Cárdenas. Álvarez, the winner, moves to 10-14. He threw 7.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 2 walks.
Emilio Magdaleno had a direct impact on the outcome. Magdaleno contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the first inning to put Culebra up, 1-0.
"I like winning," Álvarez told the Culebra Daily News. "I may joke around, but when it comes down to it, winning is the most important thing."
The Tortugas move to 45-59 with the win, while the Ingenieros drop to 61-47.
