Cornupetas Score Late to Win, 4-3

Both teams had their chances, but the Cayey Cornupetas eventually prevailed.
The Cayey Cornupetas topped the San German Golondrinas, 4-3, in Liga Hostos action at La Plaza de Cayey. The game was highlighted by the performance of Cayey pitcher Alberto Lozano. Lozano, now 3-2, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 3 runs.
Had Tadeo Yerena not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Yerena hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Cornupetas.
"I have a really good team behind me," Lozano said. "I trust them 100 percent."
With the win, Cayey goes to 61-46, while the Golondrinas fall to 64-50.
