In a low-scoring affair between the Loiza Vejigantes and the Trujillo Alto Macabeos, pitcher Andy Coakley was the difference between victory and defeat. The Loiza right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 1-0 Vejigantes win. In 7.1 innings, Coakley surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. Urso Ramírez closed it out for his 4th save.

The Vejigantes got a big boost from designated hitter Jesús Barrera who had a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the first inning off Macabeos hurler Germán Bencosme. It was his 30th RBI of the season and put Loiza on top, 1-0.

"Andy's not intimidated by who's stepping into the batter's box," said Loiza manager Luis Padilla.

Loiza goes to 56-56, Trujillo Alto to 34-75.
