Mayaguez and Vieques duked it out and the Capitanes came out victorious.

Mayaguez right-hander Fausto Souza helped his team edge Vieques by the score of 3-2 in 10 innings. Souza kept the opposing lineup in check. Mayaguez is in first place in the Liga Hostos Oeste with a record of 62-46.

The decisive blow was delivered by Byron Wood in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a run-scoring triple off 20-year old right-handed pitcher Jorge Jiménez to win the game for Mayaguez. The home crowd went nuts.

"The crowd was raucous," said Souza.
