Ilustres Lose to Loiza, 6-4
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Loiza Vejigantes and Barranquitas Ilustres.
Agapito García had a good game, but he could not keep the Barranquitas Ilustres from falling, 6-4, to the Loiza Vejigantes at Estadio Plinio Cortez. The Barranquitas center fielder was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once in the loss. Ildefonso Espinoza was the winner. He's now 10-11. The loser was 26-year old left-handed pitcher Ovidio Mandoza. The save went to Urso Ramírez, number 5 for him.
Ranulfo Torres had a timely hit in the top of the fifth inning. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, the Loiza third baseman hit a run-scoring single. That put the Vejigantes in front, 2-1.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Torres, "and then get after the next one."
The Vejigantes go to 58-56, putting them first in the Liga Hostos Metro Este.
