Las Piedras Rallies for 6-4 Win
|
Carolina got a terrific performance from pitcher Fructuoso Madrid, but it wasn't enough to beat the Las Piedras Menestrales. Las Piedras won the Estadio Ricardo García contest, 6-4. Madrid threw 8.1 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Felipe Ramos picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 5-4. Fructuoso Madrid suffered the loss. With the win, Las Piedras upped its record to 59-58.
Las Piedras used the timely hitting of Declan Lowe to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Menestrales on top, 6-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
Las Piedras manager Sebastián de León commended his team for "banging out a nice win."
