Both offenses were relatively subdued at Coliseo Paulino Soto. Fortunately for the Corozal Mofongueros, though, Isaías Morán was able to deliver in the clutch. He was 3-4 with a triple and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once, to lead his team past the Culebra Tortugas, 3-1. Abdulbasit Maaroufi went 5.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits. The right-hander struck out 1 and walked 4. With the win, he's now 14-8 this season. Picking up the save was 29-year old right-handed pitcher Aureliano Santa.
In the bottom of the fourth, with Corozal trailing 1-0, the Tortugas allowed the Mofongueros to take the lead, 2-1, on a base hit and Culebra error.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Morán told the Corozal Citizen.
The first-place Mofongueros sport a record of 70-47.
