|
Starting pitcher Evaristo Adauto pitched well enough to help the Barranquitas Ilustres beat the Culebra Tortugas, 5-3. The winner was Adauto. He threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The loser was Cristóbal Andrade. Sandalio Rocha notched his 8th save of the season.
The Ilustres got an important contribution from designated hitter Telégono Sánchez, who in the top of the first knocked a first pitch fastball to right-center for a 2-run double. It was his 10th double of the season and put the Ilustres ahead, 3-0.
"Evaristo kept his poise and got the job done," said Barranquitas manager Belisario Mesa. "He was outstanding."
Barranquitas, at 52-63, occupies second place in the Liga Hostos Cordillera Este.
