Cuervos Rally Late to Nip Artilleros

Soggy conditions did not keep Patillas and Maunabo from playing their scheduled game.
The Patillas Cuervos rode a solid performance from 36-year-old starting pitcher Armando Rodríguez to a win, beating the Maunabo Artilleros, 2-1, at Campo Atletico de San Benito. The win belonged to Rubén Meza in relief. His record improves to 11-11. Avelino Saldívar took the loss for Maunabo.
Batting in the bottom of the ninth, 26-year old second baseman Balbino Hernández had a real shot to win the game. Maunabo pitcher Avelino Saldívar was determined not to let it happen. But with two outs, Hernández hit a run-scoring single. The Cuervos had a walk-off triumph.
"It never gets old," said Hernández. "Winning, that is."
The win elevated the Cuervos to 76-46.
