Hurler Samuel Vásquez gave the Ponce Senores a solid start. The native of San Juan, San Juan (Puerto Rico) helped his team defeat the Aibonito Frios, 2-1, at Estadio Radamés Martínez. Vásquez, now 9-3, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. At 68-56, the Senores claim second place in the Liga Hostos Metro Sur.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Senores had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the first, when first baseman Eduardo López hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Redmond Brier and made the score 2-0, Senores. López was 2-3 with 2 singles.
