The Canovanas Chupacabras did just enough to secure a victory over the San Juan Metropolitanos, 5-4, in 11 innings at Estadio Capitolino. Nobody did more than pitcher Fernando Mota. Floyd Phyillips got credit for the win, improving to 2-2. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. The winning streak has now reached 4 games for Canovanas.

Graciano Gabín drove in one run for Canovanas. With one out and the game tied in the top of the 11th inning, Gabín had a clutch at-bat. Facing San Juan hurler Hansel Portuondo, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Chupacabras a 5-4 lead.

"Fernando gets tougher when he has to, makes a big pitch when he has to," said Canovanas skipper Héctor Martínez.
