Rio Grande Triumphs with Late Surge

The Cotorras grabbed a win, 3-2, at Recinto Atlético del Noreste, overcoming a fine effort from Arroyo pitcher Judá García. García went 8.2 innings and allowed 3 runs. The Cotorras, at 77-48, sit in first place in the Liga Betances El Yunque.
The climactic moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Rio Grande. That's when 28-year old first baseman Wenceslao Gómez hit a run-scoring double off Judá García to win the game. The home crowd erupted in celebration.
Arroyo manager Leovigildo Medina said: "Winning games at this level is tough. One thing here and one thing there will cause you to lose."
