The Cabo Rojo Combatientes beat the Ceiba Picudos, 4-3, at Estadio Rolando Sandoval. The win was due in part to second baseman Quilón Mareno, who was 3-4 with 3 singles and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The Picudos drop to 7-8 and continue their inconsistent start to the 1908 season.
A key moment came with two out in the top of the fifth. That's when Mareno hit a knuckle curve from Juan Rivera for a run-scoring single, putting Cabo Rojo up, 3-1.
"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Mareno told the Cabo Rojo Herald.
