Telegrafistas Handed 5-4 Loss by Rio Grande
|
The Rio Grande Cotorras and Arroyo Telegrafistas obliged fans looking for a good time.
The Rio Grande Cotorras knocked off the Arroyo Telegrafistas, 5-4, in Liga Betances action at Recinto Atlético del Noreste. Rio Grande pitcher and Ponce, Puerto Rico, native Julio Ochoa had an outstanding performance. Ochoa got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 9 hits and walked 5 over 8 innings. He allowed 4 runs. Ezequiel Vásquez sewed up the save, his 1st.
Rio Grande third baseman Evandro Bravo contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With two down, he hit a curveball to left-center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 3rd hit of the season and put the Cotorras ahead, 5-1.
"I was a little disappointed," said Arroyo manager Delmar Fernández. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
Rio Grande goes to 1-2.
