The Puebla Mosqueteros reigned over the Ciudad Mexico Volcanes in damp conditions.
Despite a fine performance by second baseman Remigio López, the Ciudad Mexico Volcanes lost to the Puebla Mosqueteros, 9-6. López went 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 times. The win belonged to Benjamín Cedillo in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Ramón Palomares took the loss for Ciudad Mexico. Eduardo Venegas, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 11th save.
The game was at a stalemate until catcher Germán Espericueta came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Ciudad Mexico pitcher Colin Were, he hit a 1-2 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Puebla on top, 7-6.
"We'll take this win and move on," said Espericueta.
