Mayas Rack Up 3-2 Win Versus Puebla
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Chetumal Mayas and the Puebla Mosqueteros, Enrique Yáñez, who is a two-time All-Star, was the difference-maker. The Chetumal right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. Yáñez got the win, improving to 5-12. He gave up 1 hit and walked 1 over 5.1 innings. He allowed no runs. Hagen Callahan recorded the save, his 13th.
Chetumal right fielder Demetrio Coronel helped the Mayas go up, 3-2, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Coronel hit a run-scoring single off Puebla pitcher Enrique Caballero.
"We'll savor this win," Coronel told the Chetumal Observer, "then get ready for the next game."
With the win, the Mayas have a record of 57-68.
